Poetry Sunday-A Smile

A Smile

A smile stretches,

And cracks open my heart.

Letting a soft, warm light

Illuminate the fringes of my world.

Spreading from head to fingertips to toes.

This glowing feeling,

Happiness, emanating back

to the corners of my upturned lips.

Stretching further,

And exposing my burning core

set ablaze with delight and peace.

This poem popped into my head as I was flying to Colorado for my niece’s wedding.  The warm feeling that a smile can bring, and how easily it can change your attitude.

  1. Such a beautifully touching poem 🙂 indeed a smile can light up your heart with joy 😀
I too wonder if those gorgeous pictures are of you? Beautifully executed 🙂

    Lots of love,
    Sanaa

  2. “set ablaze with delight and peace”—how wonderful when a smile is so genuine that it goes this deeply to the core 🙂

  3. Nothing is more beautiful than to present a smile as a gift and as a gift to receive it, it doesn’t cost anything, but its value is priceless, it can mean so much love … but probably today not everybody think about it … and it’s truly a pity !
Thank you for these lovely verses of yours, darling Donna, I hope that your niece’s wedding was very joyous and filled dwith so many smiles !

Have a most beautiful Sunday evening, my beautiful friend,
    sending much dear love
    Dany

    1. Dany the wedding was a joyous event as our family was gathered together….we are scattered and separated by thousands of miles but not for that day! I agree, we forget that a smile is the perfect gift to give and so easy too! Sending you big smiles an hugs my friend!

  4. I just so adore those first two lines. What a wonderful motto that would make on one’s front door, or hung in the kitchen, or painted onto a piece of slate or a brick and placed where all and ones self could always see. This brought sun to my day!

  5. to smile like you’ve described is to do great yoga! I smiled as I read it. Thanks! (And thanks for your visit. You GOT my poem :-))

  6. I love the sense of progression in this piece – sometimes you almost have to relearn how to smile – not just on your face but inside..perhaps a physical shift – like a journey is needed to raise the spirits and mood..all those things that can hold you down temporarily suspended 🙂 tried to insert a photo but failed..

    1. Oh your beautiful words are perfection my friend ……as beautiful as your smile. I found I had to add something to my blog to allow images uploaded so here you lovely lady! Your beautiful smile! Thanks for sending it to me!

  7. What a beautiful message. A smile can make us look younger…and more beautiful I hope you have a wonderful week and lots of happy things to smile about! Hugs, Diane (I’ll be smiling extra tomorrow!)
